COUNTERTOPS

Quartz CountertopThe materials selected for kitchen counter tops can be the finishing touch that brings design and functionality to the "hearth" of the home…the kitchen. We offer natural stones from granite to quartz, recycled glass, stainless steel and wood.

Until the last couple of years, granite was the favored material but a trend that has been gaining momentum is our quartz products. Many different companies offer quartz with some of the most recognized companies such as Caesarstone, SileStone and Cambria.

Quartz can look just like granite or marble and offers endless designer colors and patterns. Quartz is the fourth hardest mineral known to man and quartz products usually contain over 90 percent quartz content while granite is usually only around 40 percent. Silestone is quarried throughout Spain and Europe and is one of the most recognized name brands. Caesarstone is mined out of the Dead Sea and brings to mind beautiful colors. Cambria is the only quartz surface quarried right here in the US…with the best carbon footprint.

The biggest attraction of quartz countertops is that they are twice as strong as granite, more stain and heat resistant with NO sealing and have NSF certification due to the nonporous properties. Also, the fact that quartz is a Green product with GreenGuard Certification makes the selection of quartz a strong consideration. If you have made a commitment to build a certified Green home, then the points that are given toward certification can be very important.

We have quartz countertops in the show room showcasing how you can achieve a traditional look or get inspired by one of our many selections. Consider quartz products for many other non-traditional surfaces such as the shower wall or the fireplace surround.

One of our favorite pieces is a crocodile patterned bar that is not only beautiful but has a wonderful tactile presence.

Recycled glass is another product that has become more affordable and offers more selections than in the past. One of the more spectacular countertops is by Vetrazzo which uses recycled glass from all different types of beverage bottles to salvaged windows.

You can view Vetrazzo's line with our sample boards and see an example of a countertop covered with Palladian, named after the legendary Italian architect, Palladio. When buildings are town down, the glass is salvaged to make this beautiful countertop and mixed with other architectural glass and salvaged windows. The result is a unique glass surface that transforms a countertop into a piece of art you can proudly own.

All this information may be a lot to take in, so a trip to our design gallery is a definite must. Once you have looked over the many samples, know that if you have your heart set on a beautiful granite countertop or have embraced quartz products…HomeWerks will help you make the best possible selection!
